Common Delivery Issues and How to Troubleshoot Them
As a meat expert, I know the journey from our hands to your table is sacred. The quality we build through sourcing and cooking has to survive delivery. Modern logistics are incredibly reliable, but understanding potential hiccups—and how to fix them—helps you protect your investment and your meal. Here’s a practical guide to common delivery issues for premium, pre-cooked meats and how to troubleshoot them with confidence.
1. The Package is Warm or Partially Thawed
The Issue: You receive your order and the insulated box feels warm, or the gel packs aren't frozen anymore. The meat may be soft or have melting ice crystals.
The Science & Solution:
The “Why”: This usually means extended transit in a warm environment (like a sunny porch) or a carrier delay. We ship meats frozen with industry-leading cold storage and enough refrigerant to hold temperature for the standard 1–2 day delivery window.
Immediate Action:
- Check Temperature: If you can, check the internal temperature with a food thermometer. If the meat is still cold (below 40°F / 4°C) and partially frozen, it’s safe. Move it to your freezer right away. The pre-cooked nature adds a safety layer, but refreezing keeps texture and flavor optimal.
- If Thawed & Warm: If the product is fully thawed and feels warm (above 40°F / 4°C), don’t eat it. Pre-cooking reduces risk, but temperature abuse can compromise quality and safety. Contact our customer care team immediately with photos. We stand by our quality promise and will make it right.
2. The Package is Damaged
The Issue: The outer box is torn, crushed, or wet. The inner liner or product packaging might be compromised.
The Science & Solution:
The “Why”: Handling during transit can be rough. Our packaging is durable, but extreme incidents happen.
Immediate Action:
- Inspect: Open the box carefully. Check the insulated liner and the vacuum-sealed packages. Our primary packaging is tough and often stays intact even if the outer box is damaged.
- Check Temperature & Seal: If the packages are still vacuum-sealed and cold/frozen, the meat is almost certainly fine. The vacuum seal is your best integrity indicator.
- If a Seal is Broken: If a vacuum seal is punctured or leaking and the meat has thawed, don’t eat it. Contact our team. A broken seal exposes the meat to air and potential contamination.
3. The Delivery is Delayed or Lost
The Issue: Your tracking shows no movement, or the expected delivery date has passed.
The Science & Solution:
The “Why”: Logistics networks are complex. Rare delays happen due to weather, high volume, or routing errors.
Immediate Action:
- Track: Use the tracking number. Sometimes packages show as “delayed” but are still moving.
- Check Peripherals: Look around all possible delivery spots (front door, back door, neighbors, leasing office).
- Wait 24–48 Hours: Carrier systems sometimes update after delivery.
- Contact Us: If the package is significantly late with no tracking updates, reach out. We can quickly start a trace and resolve it.
4. Missing or Incorrect Items
The Issue: You get your box, but an item you ordered is missing, or you received a different product.
The Science & Solution:
The “Why”: Human error in fulfillment, though rare, can happen.
Immediate Action: Review your packing slip. Contact our customer care with your order number and a clear description or photos of what you got versus what you expected. We’ll fix the error fast so you get the globally inspired flavors you planned for.
5. Ice Crystals or Freezer Burn
The Issue: When you open your freezer-stored product, you see frost or white, leathery patches on the meat.
The Science & Solution:
The “Why”: This is almost never a delivery issue—it’s a storage one. Freezer burn happens when air hits the meat’s surface, causing dehydration and oxidation. It occurs over time in a home freezer due to temperature swings or imperfect wrapping. Our vacuum-sealing is designed to prevent this.
Troubleshooting: If you see this right after arrival, it could mean a tiny, slow leak in the vacuum seal or previous temperature shifts. Freezer burn is a quality issue, not a safety one. The meat is safe to eat, but affected areas may be dry and lack flavor. You can trim those portions off. For best results, store meats in the coldest part of your freezer and use them within the recommended time.
Proactive Tips for a Flawless Meat Delivery Experience
Your role in the final step of the journey matters. Here’s how to be a proactive partner in preserving quality, from our freezer to your fork.
- Be Prepared: Make sure someone can receive the package on the expected delivery day. Prompt retrieval is the #1 way to guarantee perfect temperature.
- Inspect Upon Arrival: Do a quick visual and tactile check of the box and contents as part of your unpacking routine.
- Store Immediately: Put products in your freezer or fridge right away. For best quality, follow the storage instructions on the package.
- Use Proper Thawing: Always thaw pre-cooked meats slowly in the refrigerator, not on the counter. This preserves the delicate texture of premium cuts and keeps the meat out of the “danger zone.”
